Hi there, I have a 1997 seadoo challenger 1800 and I need to take the impeller off. It is on there real real tight, is there a special way to take it off. thanks

G'day ddftre,
I have purchased the impeller removal tool, to get them out i lock the base of the impeller shaft in a vice and use the tool to undo, yes they are tight.
Do you have this tool?

With the removal tool it is a snap...Cost about $25.00 at dealer, or try e-bay.
Place impeller removal tool in the impeller and grab a 1/2" drive 3/4 socket with a huge breaker bar. Twist it counterclockwise till it pops loose. (may take some pressure. I seriously use a 4 foot pipe on the end of my breaker bar and use a popping motion rather than smooth pressure.)

Loctite?........

According to the manual, the impeller nut is held on by Loctite. The procedure calls for you to heat the center of the shaft to about 300 degrees to loosen the grip of the locking compond.
I used a simple and inexpensive butane torch I got at Wal Mart and it worked great. With the torch set at a fairly low flame, point the blue tip directly at the center of the inside hub and hold it there for about 5 seconds, then try to break it loose.
I sat mine in a vice as Gunsrunner suggested, then used the heat. Seadoo uses that Loctite on every nut and bolt there is!.......
