I had an SC failure at 88 hours with excessive play in the outside bearing. I sent the SC in to be rebuilt and it was ready to be picked up today. I had asked them to keep the old parts so I can see if I have to start tearing the engine apart for parts.
As you can see by the attached photos, I got lucky as all bearings and pieces of the race were accounted for.
From my take, one of the fingers in the plastic race broke and set a chain of events that let to them all being separated. You can also see some physical damage to the inside metal race. The inside bearing was intact which prevented a "touchdown" of the wheel.
After seeing this, I am putting the SC back in without tearing the thing down.
