I connected the flush kit to my sportster and have a question

I just connected the 2 pieces flush kit the hose with the quick connector and the black hose tip like adapter my question is, do i need to remove the small black piece from the water input? o can i left it connected and just remove the hose that has the small quick connector?

I leave the black part on. Just make sure its tight on the fitting.
