Hydro-Turf question

I don't need it yet but I'm looking into replacing my factory mats with hydro-turf. Of course the set I want has a warning saying that that particular color has a strong tendency to fade in the sun. Did anyone else happen to buy a set with this warning as well and if so, how true was this warning? My ski doesn't sit out very much, (2 days max at a time) maybe every other weekend in the summer. I had my eye on the cut groove style with the black on orange (supposedly the orange is what fades easily)

I had a kit with yellow and black on a XP. The yellow is one of the colors that will fade over time. I had it about a year with little to no fading.

That said, the colors will fade regardless over time. The yellow fades to white overtime and the red fades to almost a pinkish. You can cover the ski all you want but it will be susceptible to fading.

I have a Polaris ski with blue hydro-turf on it... and it's about 11 years old now. The color has shifted a little... and it's not as vivid... but it's still in good shape.

If your ski isn't sitting out much... I'd say you are safe.

Here's a swatch of the HT I'm thinking about getting. I really don't want to get all black again, the majority of my hull is black. Of course since I want the two tone and the peel and stick kind its about $35 more than the regular but I still think it's worth it even if it only holds up 3 years or so

it will fade, but generally if your not keeping it outside for extended periods it will fade evenly from my experience.

Buy it, and don't worry, if in 24-36 months you see some fading, and its bothersome to you, replace them again.

<<< big fan of peel & stick. And I love HT but I've had good luck with blacktip as well, the BT on my ski has been there a year and looks brand new, no peeling, no issues. But I prefer all black, I'm not a fan of color combo's (although I like that cut grove sample above, its really just the camo that I don't like the looks of)

I agree about the camo color combo (it looks a little sloppy in my opinion). But i've only ever seen this two tone cut groove design on one other ski and it looked amazing! I just figured it wouldn't hurt to add a little more orange since I don't have too much on the ski but enough to justify the two tone mats. And like i said if it lasts three years I'll be happy. Just not looking forward to the process of removing the old mats whenever I get around to it.

I use carb cleaner/brake clean with a plastic scraper, and it works pretty great. at least it works great on older ski's.

I agree, that orange/black groove looks pretty nice.
