How to rebuild carbs and check fuel filters

New to the world of working on boat. I have worked on car and trucks for a long time though so I have a good knowledge of mechanics. Can someone just tell me what I should clean the carbs with and where the fuel filters are located. I intend to just spray carbs down with some carb / brake cleaner and put her back together . Its a 1998 seadoo jet boat with the duel 717 / 720 motors.

Carbs are CRUCIAL when it comes to 2-strokes. I personally wouldn't do the job myself unless you are familiar with them. If you set them up lean you will destroy your engine.
Dr Honda is where I would send them if i had a need.

Dr Honda does it for a living. I'd sen them to him. It's like 60 bucks.

Disassemble them, do not remove throttle or choke butterflies unless there is a lot of play.
Soak in gas for a few days then with brass brush carefully clean and I use a wood stick to push stubborn gaskets off, do not scrape on these.

That is just the beginning.

O.K., there's a lot of good information on this forum, however except for the post about pointing you to the Mikuni manual, this thread doesn't contain much useful or even good information.

These carbs. are amazingly trouble free, a lot of the time the carbs. just need a good cleaning. Soaking them in gasoline for a few days is going to nothing except remove the finish from the exterior of the carbs., something that's not good in a marine environment.

Remove the carbs. and clean the small fuel filters by soaking in SuperClean and then running hot water through them, clean the passages with carb. cleaner, and re-assemble. The fuel filters are fairly easy to get to, just remove the end block on the carbs, 4 screws and pry out the filters with your fingernail of a small screwdriver.

Check and adjust the hi and low needles to factory specs. and check the pop off.

If you see any worn or damaged parts replace them. If you feel that your carbs. need a complete overhaul, go by the manual or PM Dr Honda and see if he can do them for you.

If the paint is bad or they are corroded it will pull it up, but I always reshoot them when I am done.

I have tried a number of different ways but the gasoline has been the best for me, just do not soak them in barry chem, it is to strong for the seals in the butterflies.
