Hi there i am looking at buying new Hydro Turf on my seadoo but im not sure how you would put it down because the hydro turf thats on it is the original and its riveted to the hull. so im guessing you just drill out the rivets but what do you do about the holes? because the new hydro turf just glues down or something like that. any info appriciated. thanks

Close!

The rear oem mads areriveted down, but they are not Hydro-Turf.

I was able to cut the rivet heads off with wire cutters and push the rivet bodies down through the hull. You are correct that the Hydro-Turf mats are glued down, so it will seal the rivet holes. As an added precaution, I plugged the holes with caulk before laying the mats in. Worked really good. Just do a really good job of cleaning the surface before gluing the mats. Also place a heavy weight on the mats afterwards to get good contact!

if you use a sharp chisel between the old mat and the ski and a quick tap with a hammer and it will shear the rivet right off cleanly, can have all the mats off in about 5 minutes, then clean deck with alcohol, then contact cement the hydro-turfs and you don't have to worry about the rivets, the contact cement will seal the opening so just go over the top of the sheared rivet.

The stock mats suck!! super slippery.

I just drill the rivets.

My other trick is to lay masking tape out and exacto knifing around the new turf. then, when you put the adhesive down there is no stray glue. Pull it up right after you get the turf stuck where you want it.

I perfer contact adhesive over the ones with the sticky stuff on the back.

i wish i taped mine out that's a good idea. don't forget to do 2 coats on the mats and they get a lil bigger after the glues on em fyi. as for the rivoits drill em send em through with a nail or a punch. i filled my holes cause i was worried about it too just keep whatever you use in the holes don't get it all over & you'll be good.
