Hey guys, I am having troubles with my 98 951 GTX Limited. When trying to bolt on the exhaust pipe to manifold it has the nut for the lower stud but I cant get any 17mm wrench or socket in to tighten it. Is there a trick without removing the carbs. I bought the ski without motor in it so I never took it off.

Thanks
Tyler

The special wrench sucks in my opinion. Just remove the carbs and any wrench works.

You'll want to use a torque wrench to make sure it's tightened properly. A good set of crowfoot adapters does the job just fine. When I did mine, I can't remember if I had the carbs on or off... pretty sure they were off- not a huge deal to remove them.

No problem. I also couldn't get the Harbor Freight "S" style wrenches that some use to work either. Maybe operator error. LOL

My experience with the "special" wrench was it was a cheap piece of stamped steel that bent when using, and I still question the final torque down figure I got. Any way you look at it, that nut is one of the worst on the ski.

I used the harbor Frieght wrench but I had to grind it down to make it work - it just needs to be a bit thinner but it works fine but you need patience as you will only get a small amount of turning before repositioning the wrench.
