Hello, I own a 94 Explorer which uses a thru the hull ftg w/ bearings, my question is how often should I greas that fitting? I use my toy in salt water on the south shore of Long Island, NY usally at the Jones beach inlet, now I sunk this boat twice within the last 7 years due to the bearings freezing up and spinning the thru the hull fitting,(thank god for bildge pumps!) some people tell me not to grease it to much or I will pop out the bearing.....others tell me pump the gun a few times after every ride, what are the thoughts of others? Please I want opinions........

Every time is correct...

You don't want to make a balloon of the boot, but you do want pressure in there.

After every ride. (one pump normally) That will help purge out any water.

Thats even better advice...

I have always done both my trailer and my skis before i left the house for the ramp..

Makes sense to do it when you get home instead..
