How much wear can the hull take?

I looked under my 95 xp and the yellow coating is worn off.

Do I need to fix it?

Dude, that has worn through the gelcoat. You need to repair that. Do asearch for a how-to on gelcoat. It doesn't look that hard, but if you have the money to spend you can probably get it done professionally for about $300. If you do get it fixed, I would quit beaching it or spring for the keel guard. It is a strip that can be put on the keel for protection when you beach it.

I bought it used late last year. It must have been like that when I got it. I always launch at a dock. I'll look up the fix for the gel coat. If anyone wants to point me in the right direction or to a good link I could use it, thanks

If i were you cause its an old ski just brush on some gel coat. if you have a wagner spray gun you could try that to spray it but i wouldnt spend alot of money on it. All you want to do is seal the fiberglass up.

Go to you tube & search "gel coat repair" there's a great video series by tap that explains how to do it. It's easy, really.
