???How much gas does a quart of SBT break in oil treat???

Got boat back today with new SBT 787/110 and tech added a whole quart of the breakin oil to the existing gas that was in it, Not sure how much gas to add to this to get the correct oil/gas ratio.
Sitting level the gas tank shows about 3 inches of gas in it, anybody know how much that might be and how much gas should I put in it to get to the ratio I need? I think these things have a 27 gallon tank.
I'm also using the factory oil injection system and the res if full of oil.
New engine and don't want to mess it up with incorrect ratio.

Well common sense tells me that most people would fill their tanks before going out on the water...fill it and go. It's just break-in. The oil adds extra lubrication till it's used a bit. Your boat also is recommended to use 87 octane by seadoo.

be broken-in with additional oil in the fuel
supply for the first tank. Follow the mixing

These instructions apply to all models with the exception of the RFI, DI and 4-stroke equipped models. For the DI models, do not add oil to your fuel tank. For the new 4-stroke skis, we recommend you consult your Owner's Manual and follow the recommended procedures.

NONE of the engine break-in can be done out of the water!

Proper break-in of your engine is the most critical aspect for determining the longevity and performance of your engine. Engines not properly broken-in will often fail within the first minutes of operation. Ring failure and piston seizure are the most common symptoms of an improper break-in procedure.

If you have a pre-mix system (mixing oil and fuel in the fuel tank), then you should richen the ratio to about 32:1 for the first ten gallons of gas. If you have an injection system (putting oil in a separate oil tank), then you should put 50:1 premix in the fuel tank along with the oil injection system for the first ten gallons of gas.

During the first 10 gallons of gasoline, there should be NO full throttle operation. First idle the engine for about 10 minutes to ensure that the engine is properly warmed-up. Then begin varying the throttle position up and down, up to 20% throttle for a half hour. Then come back and let the engine cool off completely - it should be a good 30 min break. After it cools down, you may now ride it up to 50% throttle for another half hour or so. Then come back again and let it completely cool down again. Now you can go out and ride up to 90% throttle. Continue this for the remainder of the 10 gallons, never holding one throttle position for more than a few seconds. Do not run at a steady throttle position and do not go to 100% throttle. After your first tank of gas, replace your plugs with fresh ones. For the second tank, you may ride normally with one exception - do not hold it at 100% throttle for more than a few seconds. After the second tank of gas, you are completely broken in and may ride anyway you like.
 
It should tell you on the back of the bottle. A tad heavy on the oil never hurts.

Well I'm using the injection system too. I heard of people going through these engines and breakin down during the breakin and it just horrifying.
So better to be safe than sorry.
I don't have the bottle of oil the mech had it and put it in already, but like I said there was only 3 inches of gas in it as was concerned on how much more gas I can put in, again don't have the oil bottle to read directions.
I don't know how much a quart treats with the oil injection running with it too.
 
Octane requirements??? this is what I read, any thoughts? "The stock 14.5 machines are designed to be able to operate on 87 octane unleaded fuel. By simply going to a 92 octane rated fuel, you can significantly reduce the internal engine temperatures, and avoid this power loss. In addition, the higher grade fuels tend to leave fewer carbon deposits in the combustion chamber". From K group site.
 
With premix that I am using, it said one bottle treated 8 gallons of fuel. I was running 32:1 with the break-in added to 8 gallons of fuel. Mixing it into the fuel with oil injection treated more fuel but don't quote me on that. Give SBT a quick call and they can tell you.
 
Ok , I called SBT and they pretty much said just fill the tank and I should be good to go.

Uh...I think I told you that in post #2...also it is recommended that you run 87 octane in your seadoo. Any thing higher is just wasting money and it will hinder performance rather then help it. Don't take my word for it...I was a petroleum inspector for 4 years, and a Factory Certified, Trained Technician for Honda and Kawasaki...on top of racing the pro circuit for Kawasaki in the stand up division for 10 years... what would I know. :ack:

I've been building custom bikes (7 yrs) and have raced in several motos and retired 8 years ago and I run my own specialized welding service now.
So I'm a little new to seadoo boat thing . but really appreciate the eye pokin there Karl.:boxing_smiley:
