I just bought a GTI 2004 LE . seems like a good dependable unit. my question is I want to do a lot of travelling down a river we have here.the river has a fair amount of sand and muddy rock in it .also it can get shallow2 to three feet or less in some places .is there anything I can build to stop rocks etc. from getting sucked in ,or is there some other tricks out there that I dont know about. I dont mind losing a few horses if I have to.any ideas.. thanks :)This is my first post.

screen.....

If your going to be using the ski in a white water or shallow river, I might suggest that you get a mesh screen, with a square pattern with openings no greater than 1/2". This will allow sufficient water to enter the pump for control but restrict incoming debris to a size that the pump can handle. You will lose top end speed but you shouldn't damage the pump.

After one full season of riding in these conditions, I'd open the head cover to see how much sand is deposited in the cooling water jacket of the cylinders. This is the lowest point in the cooling system. The water enters from the bottom, pushing up but there are dead pockets on the backside that you may find insulating with sand over a period of time. After the first season inspection, you can determine the frequency of future inspections......
