How fast should 97 SPX go??

Hello, I just got a 97 SPX that didn't run well. I rebuilt carbs, replaced fuel lines and launched it today. Does anyone know how fast it should go--since it doesn't have a tach or speedo, I don't have any idea. It has the 78? engine.

I know my friends all stock one does 60 mph gps it. His runs mint though. Its been rebuilt with all stock stuff. Nothing aftermarket on it. Mine I havent gotten running yet but cant wait to find out.

yeah, this is a fast little ski. too little for it's top speed. if water is not like glass, it will beat you up-at least at speed. this ski's nice part is getting air over waves.

Agreed... I LOVED my SPX 60 is where i topped out at... but it had a different impeller for great HOLESHOT!! so it lacked a little top end..

I think my SPX does about 55 or so but it really depends on a lot of variables.. Sponsons, grate, impeller, location, ect. I love mine too, nice and small and gets great air, turns so hard its tossed me off before! I think its my favourite hull design.
