How far are you guys from the dock?

Thats what i keep telling my friends. I mean the slips have the drive on pads but i like the feeling of having my ski in my yard. I just spend 5 grand for it and its like my new baby now. haha

In Michigan I'm pretty much like Jake's set up...about 50 feet or so from house to water. I keep the boat on a covered hoist and the ski (Green SD)on a regular hoist. The other 2 skis you see are my nephews Yamahas and is using my old hoist for one of his

In Florida it's about a 20 minute drive to the SR 64 ramp just West of I-75. I'm sure they are others, just haven't found them yet :)

Gorgeous set up Tim !! I always wanted to live right on the water like that but with hurricane sandy last year and giving how much devastation that did to just a few houses down from me... Freaks me out a little bit

That salt water? What corrosion problems do you encounter most? I take mine out to the beach sometimes and would like some pointers. (BTW, also insanely jealous!!)

Im about 45 minutes from both Sam Rayburn (largest lake completely in TX) and Toledo Bend (largest lake in TX but shares the LA border), but I usually go to Rayburn because Toledo is stumpy and requires using boat lanes.

Fremont

Where about in North East Ohio do you live?

I lived in Madison for YEARS which is very close to the Lake County / Ashtabula Line.
I now live in the Strongsville are. I hit the lake whenever I am able but travel to meet others when the opportunity presents itself...

I'm not in the northeast. I'm more north-central to northwest , in Fremont. There's a ramp downtown at a place called "The Tackle Box". From that point it takes me just about 1 hour to Lake Erie.

Very familiar with Fremont.

We had a "hidden" warehouse in the Camp Perry area with lots of goodies.. 28-combat boats, lots of machine guns including 20 fifty-cals, trucks, cars ect ect.. I worked in that area for 20-ish years.

Once you hit the river do you have to keep it slow or can you at least cruise?

I normally get down to the Sandusky area two-times a year to ride the ski. Mostly I go out right near Cleveland about 2-miles east from the Cuyahoga River.

Wide open all the way. (If I choose to do so.)

My townhouse is about a 1/4 mile from the ramp, closing on a house in a month and then I will be 1/2 mile from another ramp, same lake :hurray: But my favorite place is across town about 30 minutes away.

I feel for you guys having to drive an hour plus, and pay for the ramp, I would go nuts. Last summer I went out three or four times a week sometimes more. Even being as close as I am, I'm still jealous of you guys with water access in your back yards.

If I launch into the marina/ocean it's only about 10 minutes to hitch up and reach the dock - I enjoy lake riding more, though - more speed and people on the lake / coves to hang out at.. it's about an hour and a half drive to the nearest decent lake, about a 5 hour drive while towing to my favorite lake..

If you get a chance, head west from Sandusky into the river. There's a cool watering hole about half way to Fremont. It's called "Jimmy Bucketts". They usually have live entertainment on the weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
