had a 1999 stx 3 seater but sold it some years ago ,and now thinking of buying a 2000 seadoo xp and putting a new motor in it . never done it before . so thats my story. from east tn.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Unless you're getting the XP really cheap or free it's not a good idea. Does the ski have a motor in it now to use for an exchange for a crate motor? If so what's the rest of the ski like, is it complete? Just warning you unless you know the ski, it could be a real money pit.

You might be able to put a used motor in for that. How much are they asking for the ski?

Lou

You need a 951 motor, while I'm not recommending any particular vendor here is a link to SBT, the exchange motor is $1200.00 plus freight both ways, probably another $200.00. This is for their standard 951 silver, 1yr. warranty, the premium engine is more. There are other re-builders, I personally don't have any experience with them, but I'm sure others on this forum do.

I'm in the same boat with a 1999 XPL. need computer, pump and engine. Way i see it is it's alot less expensive for me to do this than buy a new hull. Besides, I got it for free right?

yes free is the best for sure,i see a place on ebay for about 1200 and 2year warrt but ill have to wait and see if i get it ,mean while ill keep looking .and post what i find. thanks for the advice SeaDooLou fox i hope it all go,s well for you.
