Hey X-4 cult....homies....and enthusiasts....

First I want to thank everyone for all the referrals and mentions! I sure wish I had the time to be part of the forums in the summer, but being a one man wrecking crew and all the added business...its impossible. Luckily we have some awesome people on this site who have just as good if not greater knowledge than I have!!

Anyways..I have ran into some interesting issues.

Had a guy with a 787 that would not charge. Of course...you would think Rectifer or stator. Well it ended up being the MPEM. The circuit runs in and out of the MPEM.

The 97 GSX MPEMs have been failing at a crazy rate this year, and most were reporting that it lost spark. Mostly just a heads up for guys dealing with that model.

On Water regulators...I have found that the outer housing and/or the piston inside can wear out. When you put the assembly into the housing and push down, the piston should stick in the housing. If it pulls out smooth and easy, its wore out and parts need replacing. So be looking for that aside from the holes in the diaphragm.

Pumps with metal housings...these are your 95 and earlier pumps. I now know why they switched to plastic. Over time corrosion builds between the housing and the wear ring. Esp when they sit a long time. I ran into it twice this year...and remember I live in MN, a far from salt water as anyone can be. My Skat-trak mag pump had this problem this year. Anyways....this corrosion will bulge the wear ring out and the the prop will end up tearing the wear ring all up. Just make sure to clean out any corrosion before you reinstall a new wear ring.

Im sure Ill think of more....but I had a few minutes this morning. Hope you guys have had a kick ass summer of riding!!

Can the same be said for the brass pumps?

It doesnt matter what the vein section is made out of...I am talking about the outer part of the housing. 88-95 they used aluminum outer housings, 96 and up were all plastic outer housing.

Nick, Brad said my 99GSx isn't charging fully....about 12 V I think he said, maybe lower. Could the MPEM be my problem also?
He didn't mention anything about the MPEM.
