Having trouble with my 787 .
I removed the motor, the stator cover , I need to remove the fly wheel and have removed the large nut . I cannot tell if it is splined or keyed , Do I need a special puller for it ?
Anything I need to know ?

Hey I just pulled my motor out and I bought a special tool to hold the magneto fly wheel and my dad and I made a tool that fit the pto fly wheel and unscrewed it counter clockwise. Hope this helps.

Pto.....?

:agree:....great answers.

The PTO hub is threaded on and there is a special tool to take it off with. But, if your motor is seized, you should be able to just use a pipe wrench to pop if off with, turning counter clockwise. If your engine is not seized, they recommend that you stuff a rag into one of the cylinders so the piston can not complete the stroke.

When taking off the magneto, do not remove the 6 bolts that hold on the armature (magnetic ring bolted to flywheel) unless you mark it's exact location. The flywheel is keyed to the crank. This armature has a striking point for the pickup coil to fire the spark plug at the right time.
