Hi guys,

I am new to the forums.
I bought a Sea-Doo 1995 GTX. 3 years ago. When I went to get it from the guy I did get to test drive it for 2 min however it took 3 hrs to get started. He blamed it on low battery. Ok Whatever. It started and I ran it quick to make sure it seemed alright, and it did.
My family goes to take it on vacation and we get 10 minutes of run time then it starts to act funny. It was hesitating on throttle really bad, sometimes it would go to full throttle without any problems sometimes it would not. Eventually it got so bad it wouldnt start.
We took it to the dealer and they said there wasnt anything wrong with it. Drr. Then we took it to a marina and after they kept it for 4 months and the entire summer they finally said that the rotary valve was bad, and the cases had been fixed. To get new cases would be more expensive then getting a new engine. We got it back from the marina, (with parts missing) and decided to put new rotary valve in ourselves. did that. It ran for 10 min then started to get out of timing again and losing throttle response, as before.
Now, this winter i purchased new cases and a new rotary valve from a guy who was parting out an engine. Here is where i need some advice.

Now the cases when we took it apart the first time, the bottom case had been welded back into place like a crack or something. Looked like it was smoothed out but I guess that would be the source of all of the problems?

Do you guy think that the cases could have been causing the rotary valve to get thrown?

Will my new cases fix it and everything will be perfect with that ski for once?

Has anyone experienced this?

Or is the ski total junk and get a new one?

I absolutely love jetskiing and this is my first ski and i have yet to have fun on the darn thing. URGH.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Last time we did get it timed right. It ran for one run then started to go wack.

Yes it is the brass gear that gets destroyed.

most of the time, the rotary valve-brass gear, IS the break point, when something obstructive gets into the system. Is the surface, where the rv rides, smooth or "diggers" on it.
How many gears, have you blasted?

I havent taken it apart the second time to put the new cases in. The first time if I can remember, I can dig it out and take a picture of the first one. I thnk was atleast 50% maybe all of them. It looked bad. I remember finding brass shavings. WE got the engine back from the marina in pieces, We did go through and check the neccesary places to get the brass out. But I will be looking for brass when I take it apart this time to put the cases in.

yeah, good idea, also, inspect the gear from the crank assy, that turns the brass gear. Maybe tooth or two is damaged/nickt up...

I dont think so...if anything, remove the resivoir, oil lines goin to/from the case (guess you are, since ur replace'n them, brain-fart..:stupid:)...SO, clear/replace the oil lines, get new oil, clean/replace the injection filter, and inspect that crank gear...

originally I was told that the case would be rubbing the craft shaft causing the gears to strip. Hence the new cases. The crack in the cases would make sense.

What would be a sign that there was oil going to the system before?

You have a bent rotary shaft. Usually when the brass gear fails, the RV shaft gets bent also. A bent shaft will destroy the brass gear. If you keep replacing the gear and not the shaft, buy a lot of gears.
