my gauges are not working and I get no beep when lanyard is pluged in but it starts up and rungs good I have no power coming out of the epem where the plug for the gauges plug into . can I take the hot wire out of the plug and put it to straight power without messing anything else up and will that tell me if my epem is bad or is there something else I can check ?

Alternate power source....

Have you checked your fuses? Check all the fuses to make sure they are good. We do not advocate by-passing any of the electrical connections to make something work.

The purple and black wire coming from the mpem are the power wires to the speedo, which then goes to the info center and stops at the compass. You have an accessory power supply coming from connector 3 pin 15. If your normal power supply (the purple wire) is no longer working, you can try the accessory power supply wire. That's the only way I'd try to power the info center. I'd not try to jump power from the battery side of the mpem to those gages because your mpem has the regulator/rectifier integrated into it and it may only regulate 12 vdc to the electrical components while sending 14 vdc back to the battery. So, you may damage the info center if supplied with greater than 12 vdc. If you find the accessory wire has power and is not being used for anything else, I don't see why you can't use it. It should be there near your gages, with a plug block on it.

Always use a multi meter to do any electrical testing as a test light might send a surge back into the MPEM,(Multi Purpose Electronic Module) and cause more problems if tested incorrectly. The multi meter is forgiving the test light isn't.
