This is a rear seat back retaining clip push pin Christmas tree from a Seadoo Islandia. I need help finding them. We would like to have 100 of them. Yes I have searched and contacted auto body supply stores. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I used to work at an auto parts store and at a power sports place and have looked for an automotive alternative for the past six months and have not been able to find anything usable. Believe me I have looked. I would have needed 30 of them but figured I could reuse what I could and have recently bought 10. The prices on-line were all around $6.19 each. The one in your picture looks reusable, unless one of the heads was broken I would reuse it. I bought them from PWC Muscle, as they give members here a discount. 10 with shipping was $70.00. The other thing I have seen thrown around is having someone 3-D print them, just a thought.

Closest thing I could find :

ITW Fastex - part # 354-280318-0078

These things are obviously a "special" hard to find....good luck.

I had looked at fasteners like these but the problem is that they need to have 2 heads. There is no way to get a single head fastener to work. I just recovered all seats and arm rests in my boat. While I had the covers off I thought I could remove the foam from the hard plastic backing and glue single heads onto the plastic. Well the foam is glued to the plastic backer, to destructive for me. The fasteners need to have one head on either side of the plastic backer otherwise they will not install. Search Christmas Tree Clips - Double Head.

I was just looking at 3d printing with nylon. Looks like it needs to run up at 250c. Most printers can't do that reliably, and would need an upgrade on the "Hot End" of the extruder. I have a buddy with several printers... I will ask if any of his are able to work with nylon.

PN 51255404 looks good... but may be a little short. Since it's a seat back, going into a panel... I don't know why they would need to be as long as the OEM was using.

The 2 inch length is to help reassembling. I had to line up three (or 2 depending on the seat) fasteners while trying to push he seat down. I need the extra inch to snake my fingers between the seat back and hull to get all three of the christmas tree into the holes at once. I would guess the actual total length need is around 1.5 to 1.75 inches. Looks like 51255404 is ABS plastic not nylon. The problem, I see, using 51255404 is getting the large top head into the seat back. Its going to take some whittling to get them to work. The challenge is getting the head small enough to get into the hole and still want to stay in the hole. The Seadoo fasteners have screw top head to ease installation. Using 51255404 looks feasible, trimming a little and heating them up may be the key to it. Reuse all of the original fasteners you can.

OK.... good to know.

@SeptemberC ... get the short ones, and then push a plastic drinking straw over the tips to give you some length to guide them into the holes.

Yea. That's gonna expensive!
Yes it would be. I just emailed the seller- He confirmed that price is indeed for ONE piece. Not for a package of x pieces. Wow! He is very proud of them! But that's a bargain. I found another place $11.95 EACH.

Well...anyone still looking for these...the cheapest I found them here: https://www.thepartshed.com/
for 5.08 each and 9.99 shipping...still pretty expensive for a little plastic dart to hold our seats in place...but that was the best price I could find. I ordered 10 and plan to re-use the others...I got a few extra "just in case"

That’s still CRAZY! I’m not sure what clips the Upholstry guy used so I’m just praying they hold! $5 each is highway robbery

I bought the "DIY" upholstery for my boat, pulled everything off (I broke several of those darts pulling things apart), then spent several months trying to get everything apart, getting the right tools/parts (stainless steel staples, staple gun, rivets, rivet gun, etc). Things just got worse from there. I finally paid an upholstery shop to recover the seats for $300. (Better than me breaking the seats that cannot be replaced). Once they were back, I was missing the darts that were still in the seats. Just trying to get this back together at this point. (It is a little rough riding around with no seats/pads...just been using the little floating cushions until the seats are back in). I read where some people are simply using Velcro to keep their seats in place and having great success. I just wanted to keep it as "stock" as possible.

The Upholstry guy around here (that is the BOMB) uses the best vinyl. Does the double stitching and it all looks factory original when he’s done. $2500 to redo everything (except for the captains seat which was in perfect condition and didn’t need replacement. The colors and texture matched perfectly.

AS A REMINDER TO EVERYONE..... Never ever, ever use a magic eraser on your vinyl!
