Sounds like you may have a bad motor mount, or it could be missing on one or more cylinders at low RPM.

The engine is mounted directly to the drive... so there's not really any "Mounts" in this system.

But, on that note... I'm guessing the rattling you are hearing in the vid is the rear ladder. It's a noisy thing at idle. (normal)

As far as the brakes... no, there isn't really a kit... but you can buy any part you need. I got a swing tongue from Gander Mtn for $70 as I recall... and the rest of the parts were bought from ebay. It was 2 drums, backs, battery, switch and some wire. I think I was into it for less than $300 when it was all done.

Thanks for all the info. im so glad there is a active islandia community.

is anyone local to philadelphia at all or harrisburg?

with this boat , when we ran it saturday and anything more than just idling through the water was really smooth, it just seemed to vibrate alot when we were idling and just puttering around with just having it in "F" with no throttle. but once i throttle up at all , its smooth as silk

if that makes any sense.
Dave
Are you idling at 1000 - 1100? In my boat the engine is just as quiet with no throttle. I had an old triumph spitfire that was always on the verge of stalling that sounded like you are describing. I read a couple of posts here about the throttle position sensor but I don't know if that could cause this

i dont know the rpm i was idling at. the boat is out of water for season. so it wont be till spring :( that i can tell again

An easy way to confirm that all the cylinders are firing is to short out one of the spark plug wires while its running, and see if the engine acts differently. If it vibrates more or sounds different, then you know that cylinder is firing properly, then move on to the next cylinder. Ounce you find a cylinder that can be shorted out without affecting the vibration, RPMs, or noise - then you found a dead cylinder. Many times a cylinder wont fire at lower RPMs, but will "kick in" when you raise the RPMs. If you have a dead cylinder at low RPM's, you would want to do the following:

1) Check the compression (should be over 100 PSI, or that cylinder wont run very well)
2) Change the spark plug and wire
3) Rebuild the carb, especially looking at the low speed circuit

Keep in mind that the throttle plate might be closing too far, or something stupid like that.

I Canada it's getting pretty cold at night these days. I put a couple light bulbs in the engine compartment if I think it's going to freeze. I may be kidding myself but I still hope to get one more day out

I agree. dump that boat in the water, and pin it to win it.

Love that photo! Looks like up here in MN when the ice starts to go out on the lakes. Folks get their boats in, the wind switches and moves the ice in front of the landing. Not getting the boat out till the wind switches again!

Mine is going to be winterized soon too. That water temp has dropped huge. We are in full on SXS mode in the woods and soon to be sled season. It's only two months away till trail opener!!

the guy i got it from had it all redone, i have the paperwork at home, i can find out when i get home who he had do it and what it cost.

Ill post some pics once i get it openned up in prob 2 weeks. its in storage and shrink wrapped still.

Thanks
Dave
