Hello,
I am new to the PWC market. I just bought a used 1996 Seadoo XP. It runs great but it has a hard time starting. I put a new battery in it, it sometimes will crank, but most of the time not. If I hook another battery to it like a car battery it starts every time. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a problem like this. Could it be the starter going bad. That is my first guess. How hard is it to get the starter off? I can't even see it.

I would take the battery to like Auto Zone, nand have it load tested to see if it might have a bad cell. It might have a full charge, but not enough volts under load to start it up.

the starter is on the port side - under the pipe/exhaust manifold
the hot wire and ground are connected to the starter =- they could be loose or dirty

If a different battery worked than it must be the battery...

The only battery that would start it was a car battery. (more crancking amps)
