I dont work my wife sports me and all I do is try to get this thing ready for the weekend and never happens she wants me to take it in but I know its minor and I no I can fix it. please help ive read all the steps and performed the task and im getting confused at what the problem could be.ITS ALWAYS HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFOR THE CARBS WERE REBUILT AND AFTER AND BEFOR THE NEW MOTOR AND AFTER NEW MOTOR.Can send my carb to someone professional and have them rebuilt and set send them back and I will install them? Its not that I dont trust my tech guy he is in school in St.louis and has no time I really dont feel like I can do it I have watched the videos but it just shows rebuilt and not taking them apart or putting them back together as dual carbs I just dont want to mess up I have cash and will pay shipping labor parts ect... just looking for any one up to it.

If you are willing to post pictures of the carbs and each stage, we can help walk you through the rebuild.

It starts with having the right frame of mind - you can do it. This is not as complicated as rebuilding an engine.

For starters, to remove and dismantle the carbs only requires typical hand tools - allen key wrenches, screw drivers, vise-grip pliers and some cutters for removing old fuel line clamps (if they aren't the easily removed screw type clamps).

And as a Premium Member, you already have access to EXACTLY the same material I used to rebuild my carbs - the first time I ever worked on carbs.

are you sure the idle isn't turned down too low? 3000 on land. 1500 in water.

Sounds like that to me as well. I idled mine down a little too far last week. Started out of water fine, and wouldn't start in water. Had to turn idle screw 1/2 turn to get it to start in water.

my 97 gtx has had the same problem since I have got it also. Wondering if having the low idle mixture set too high would make for hard starting? I turned mine out 1.5 turns. The manual says 1, +- 1/4

I know lots about car engines and it is acting like its flooded, if you hold the throttle wide open doesn't that allow more air to enter the engine thus leaning the fuel mixture.

Maybe we can get more than one seadoo with the same problem fixed.

David, what are your rpm's at idle at now? I am going to try fine tuning my air/fuel mixture tonight at the lake to see if it helps, and I will also try turning my idle up.
I'll let you know how I made out.

turned idle up a little

hey killer my settings are at high jets 0 closed all the way to the right and my low jets do better I think at 1 1/2 turns out counter clockwise these also have the t-bar threw the screw I had it at 1 1/4 just leaned it out a bit couldnt tell any difference. With my idle turned higher is gonna solve my problem it was way low its now set around 2900 on land and havent made it to the water to check been busy with honey does and the seadoo wasnt one of them this time keep me posted. Later.

Well after a month or so messin around I finally got my ski idling in the water properly. My rotary valve had some pitting and scores so I replaced it. Purred like a kitten at idle!!!

Unfortunately went for a burn the engine died, Hmmmmm , checked compression one hole at 140 the other at 30. Pull the head and rear piston had a chunk out of it(looks like the rave valve did not have proper clearance).

DOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
