2005 GTI LE RFI, starts hard in the water

Yes your past the wear limit by a good amount and you also have grooves so that for sure is at least one culprit why you are having the hard start issue, another option is Tony Peila, I’ve heard only good things about his work and will be using him myself for a few rotary valve covers

Also the oil lines going to the rv cover have a metal clamp around them is there a way to remove them without breaking them?

Yes, the manual states to measure your rotary valve clearance with the oring out and torqued to spec, I think it’s 15 ft. Pounds but I’m going off memory so best to check. The metal clamps can be removed by squeezing them inward on the ends. I use OEM line from the BRP dealership for the small oil lines just to be sure I have good quality lines that are the exact right size. They come in 1500mm lengths so enough to do 3 or 4 machines. The small oil line fits tightly enough that it would stay without any clamp at all, but I use small zip ties anyways

Ok, so I just placed an order for a cover and rv replacement from sbt, my valve is measuring.024 and doesn’t appear bent but I don’t plan on going back into this anytime soon so getting both and hopefully it fixes it!!

This is the way
Ok so I have replaced the rotary valve and cover from sbt, took it to the lake this weekend starts right up cold but after it’s warm it is absolutely miserable to get started again! Any ideas what to looks for next?

Is timing set correctly! Are plugs fouling

The RFI (Rotax Fuel Injection ) Spot
You may find this thread useful, lots of information on RFI’s,
I know on my 99 GSXRFI, it starts better hot if I take the Dess key off and re install it rather than hitting the start/stop button to stop it, and then hitting the start/stop button again to start it without ever removing the Dess key. My thinking on this, is that it’s not injecting start up fuel if I don’t remove and re install the Dess Key, I could very well be completely wrong but it seems to help me with hot starts. Other than that, I would probably consider having the injectors inspected and cleaned

if these are anything like motorcycles than the fuel pump primes when the key is put on. just a guess
That’s what I find, if I stop it with the start/stop button, leave the Dess key on the post, then try to start again I find it hard to start. But if I stop it, remove the key, put the key back on, It starts right back up

Yes every time the key is put on the dess the fuel pump will attempt to send fuel to the rail. Really should hold that pressure for start ups but it doesn't.

It starts hard after key has been removed and reinstalled also, acts flooded or being flooded, kicks and sputters but not quite enough to start
