I need someones help or advise.

I installed a stator today on my 99 gtx limited 951. It was grounded.

After the install, i hooked it up to the water hose to check the voltage. Battery has be on a trickle charger for 2 days, so it was fully charged. When started, the voltage reads around 12.75 at about 2500 rpm. 13.25 at higher rpm. When i hit the gas to check it at higher rpm, it reved up and stayed upeven with my hand off of the throttle. Not sure what rpm it got to. I hit the kill switch and it would not shut off. I had to remove the key to get it to shut off.

Is the higher rpms something that happens when running it on the water hose? Should i be alright to put it in the water?

Thanks for any advise or comments.

The ski will run higher on the hose than in the water as no water is pressing on the impeller.

As far as the kill switch, it may not be bad as sometimes the "heat" of the cylinders will ignite the gases that keep flowing. try using it on the lake and see what happens. If same thing then repost it....Oh wait i just re-read you post. it stopped when you pulled the dess off the post but idled high w/o touching the throttle and didn't shut down w/hitting the start button

....mmmmm I can't answer you on that. Wait a little until the "big guns" answer you...could be the stop button.

That is a lean run-away. It won't happen in the water... but I would make sure than the carb bolts are tight, and that there is no air leaks.

thanks for that. It sounds reasonable and i like the term "lean runaway". I did try it again and it did the same thing but not as bad. The weird thing is that it sat there and idled for about 30 seconds. It did not runaway until i hit the throttle. But, this time it did cut off with the kill switch.

I just had some local guys at purr performance do the carb cleanings and all of the fuel lines. We put new fuel filters, inline oil filters. I am assuming that the carbs are tight, but i will check. Where all can it leak air? The jeyski run fantastic after they did the repairs, but 2 weeks after the repairs, a low voltage light come on. That is the reason for the stator replacement. What is odd to me is that it ran so good a month ago when that low voltage light come on. I havent had it in the water since then. I just didnt have the time to fix the stator and they wanted $550.00 to do it.

You really need to put it in the water to tell anything, your idle will be about half what it is on the trailer. I like the idle (in the water), to be about 1700-1800rpm, which is a little higher than the manual says. Because it's high enough where you don't hear the normal rattle.
