Well it looks like its rebuild time..!
I have a GTX Limited Millennium Edition (Blue, 951 Carb)

Is started making an odd ticking/knocking sound. Very much the same as the link below but not anywhere near as bad.

Note:
- When the seat is on you can only just hear it the sound
- Take the plugs out and turn it over its sounds normal so its only present under compression
- It started in the middle of summer so that kinda rules out the winter sleep
- At no stage has it ever take on on water
- 175 hours on the clock and have had the ski from the show room (ive spent more time cleaning it then riding it)

I suspect that when i open it up im going to find that the rings are worn and the sound is piston slapping as this guy has found. Skip to 00:23

This is what the plugs looked like ( dont mind the dirt as they have just been sitting on the work bench for a while)

Any feedback would be great... ill keep ya posted on what i find

Cool project, just finished rebuilding my 951 GTX millennium edition as well. New pistons, rings, small end bearings etc.. Hopefully out on the water to test this weekend.

Does sound like you've got worn rings....possibly. My tip is label\colour code the pipes and what they connect to, I didn't and had to revert to manuals over and over. Def remove the carbs before taking exhaust off, easier to get to bolts. Its only 4 Allen key bolts holding carbs in, makes life easier..

At 175 hrs, If you're tearing it apart, might as well go ahead and do the whole thing. Lifespan on these engines is around 200 hours and the bottom end's are the weakest link on these engines. When they go, they take the block with them. So i would break down and do the whole thing. I was able to do an OEM rebuild for just over 800$ with shipping. only things aftermarket were piston rings and a gasket set. Make sure to have the counterbalance shaft rebuilt as well. Those bearings are known to fail and create some nice ventilation in your block.
