GTX leaking water, cavitation issues

I have been working on fixing a 2002 gtx rfi however I have ran into a cavitation issue and can't seem to find a solution. After checking and replacing all of the typical sources (impeller, wear ring, carbon seal, pto boot) it still cavitates from launch and is leaking water inside of the hull. My gut is telling me it is the carbon seal not sealing properly that is giving me the issues but as I mentioned I already replaced it. Anyone have any ideas? The driveshaft seems to have a lot of play in it too so could that be the issue?

If there is play in the shaft, something isn't right. Some lateral movement is ok, but anything up and down or side to side is telling you something is wrong.

Are all motor mounts good?

if there is too much back and forth play in the driveshaft, it could be that the rubber bumpers on the ends of the driveshaft are missing

The movement is only lateral however it seems to be moving more than it should be. I will check for the bumpers, I read somewhere that filling the pto grease fitting would reduce the amount of play in the driveshaft so I will try that when I check the bumpers. Is this the reason for the cavitation? Thanks

Yes, grease in the PTO is helpful. And it should be in there. Use the zero. Pump in grease until the shaft stops moving. Then no more grease.
