Hey all so I've had my ski for a few months now and it's been nothig but trouble the guy I bought it off said you must have the water runnin before you turn the engine on anyway about a week ago I went to flush it and start it but it wouldn't start later I found the wire going to thr starter motor has rusted but now the engine had been flooded with water for a few days I took the pipe apart and it was full of water conpletly drained the water turned it over for about half an hour and water was gushing out of the engine finally when it slowed down I put it all back together then when the plugs went back in it seemed like it had to much compression without plugs it turns over fine but as soon as they go in it struggles to turn over I dugg deeper and took the heads and cylinders off and found the bottom end was full of this mercy stuff a mixture of water oil and petrol I thought this would deffinetly be the problem but even tho I cleaned it all out it still does the same thing now but now it turns over very slowly before it didn't at all does any one know what the problem could be ?!? It's not the starter motor as it works fine without the plugs I really have no idea it was all fine before the water incident and now that it's all cleaned im stuck local shops wont help me because it's "there getting to old now" I would appreciate any advice thanks

Start with a fresh charged battery for starters.
It drains cranking amps quickly is battery going bad.

And if had water sitting for days internals may be rusted. Spray some good fogging oil down cylinders jik.

Always start ski then turn water on.
Turn water off then ski

Battery's fully charged and internals all appear to be in good condition everything moves freely etc no signs of rust I really have no idea

well just my amateur opinion but if it cranks freely with the plugs out then it (at least to me) sounds like a power issue or a hydrolock. Since you had the heads off seems hydrolock can be ruled out. So, that would seem to bring it back to checking for a bad cable and getting your battery load tested. 12V reading does not mean a good battery. I'm betting battery, just my opinion.

Welcome to the forum...not sure if I said that to you before. That sure is one Loooooong sentence.

:agree: with OCOD and Jake. Make sure the battery cables are connected tight and grounds are good. Take out the plugs again and crank it. Does any water/oil mixture come out...if so, then keep cranking in 5 second spurts while resting for 10 seconds in between.

As said before, just because a battery shows 12 V it doesn't mean it cranks with 12V...load test it at any auto parts place...usually free.

As OCOD said......To flush - Get motor started the turn water on....turn water off then shut down motor

There would still need to be a fair amount of that mercy stuff in the crank to cause hydrolock I'm guessing ? I've got about 90% of it all out, and with the battery it seems to crank over very fast and powerfully with no plugs, but when I did change over the rusted out cable to the starter I used 1 gauge smaller then the original but I dont think this would be an issue as it was for the battery terminals anyway.

10% of water/oil will cause the plugs not to fire. Get 99.9% out and squirt a *little* gas/oil mix into the plugs B4 starting. Some people use a little WD40 to help get rid of the water near the end. Some people use straight gas to help start it but remember it doesn't have any oil mixed with it to help lube the pistons, etc.

I like to pour a little oil in the cyl, then use starting fluid. Its kind of a no no as it strips the oil film off the pistons for a little bit...but for wet motors it helps get them to pop and run so the water gets run out.

Once running get it warm and rev it a few times. Go get it on the water and run the heck out of it, then heavily fog the crap out of the motor when you are done.
