GSX 1998 Front breather pipes

Please can someone tell what these pipes are used for?

There are two of them [Black] one on each side as you sit on the ski in the front of the Jet Ski and come from the Top {Hole in the Gel coat / Fibreglass Body} and run to the front bottom of the ski?

They do not connect to anything so I assume they are some type of breather/outlet Pipes?

I would like to use these holes where these pipes are in the body of the ski to put two fishing rod holders? So what I really want to know is will I damage the ski if I remove these pipes?

I think they're air pipes for the engine to breathe

One is a fuel tank vent one is a battery vent. If I remember correctly
