Grey Fuel Lines - Fuel Filter

I am having trouble starting my 97 GS. When it cranks over, it doesn't start. I replaced the plugs and still nothing.
I suspect the grey fuel lines have clogged up the fuel system. I was checking the fuel filter that is located in front under/behind the storage box. I took it off, cleaned it out and replaced it. It is not filling back up with fuel when I pull the choke or throttle.
Does that tell me the selector switch or lines are clogged? Shouldn't that filter fill back up with fuel?

Thanks
Dave

fuel will not get to the filter if the selector valve is clogged. you can try putting the selector valve to Reserve and see if you get fuel

Thanks for the help. I tried reserve as well.. Since that didn't work either, does that tell me the line from the selector is clogged or the switch is bad?

hard to say, could be the valve or clogged lines or even a fuel baffle issue. you have to replace all the lines anyway so start there and try cleaning the valve. i think it has a rubber gasket in it so i wouldnt use carb cleaner. a new valve is I think $34. the fuel gets drawn thru the system by the carb so if yoru carbs are clogged you wont get fuel either,

I'm replacing my lines right NOW as I type.(OK, I'm taking a break) I can't budge either the manifold bolts or the carb bolts to get to the last line that's waaaaaay down there.
I found only couple ends of hose that looked gooey, and it ran fine yesterday so I wasn't planning on taking the carbs off. (not experienced enough).
NOW WHAT ?

Thanks for the help. I will start with the lines like you suggested. We will see how it goes. Thanks!!

If the hoses reached a point to where it causes problems with the engine running the carbs need to come off and be cleaned along with the in carb filters.

Are the carb filters on the end of each carb...or are they inside and needed to be taken apart?

One more hose to take off...the smallest one is the hardest........LOL

they are kinda like miniature thimbles inside the carbs. about 25% the size of a thimble, but you're probably too young to know what a thimble is... yeah those little hoses are much easier to change with the carb or at least the air box off.

I bet I'm older than you. I know what thimbles are too.

So i need to take apart the carbs to see them......darn.

Yeah, your going to want to make sure all the passages are clear any ways. Might as well know it's all clean.
