Hey all, first time to your site and was hoping for some quick feedback. I've been looking for a sportster 1800, and I have found one. It needs 1 engine, the other has got 160psi in both cyl. It's a 98 with the 717's I believe. The drives were just done and he lost an engine and wants to dump it. I can pick it up for $2000, with trailer. Is it worth putting a grand into it for a rebuild? The rest of the boat is in very good condition. Thanks in advance!!

if he wants to "Dump it"... tell him you will give him $1500.

Those boats are allways worth putting $$ into, to make them run... but ask if the good engine is an original. If it is... I'm sure it will be next. (They seem to give up about at the same time)

Still don't you guys up there have to pay more to send the engines out and get them back since most of them are fixed in the US here. You can go with about $1000 US to get each engine replaced. I have the same boat. I forgot how many hours are on mine have to hook back up the scanner but I paid $4400 US. I am still on the first engines. They go in the mid 40's on the water. Driving them is a little weird at first since you sit in the back of the boat like the 14.5' ones. The 1800 Challengers you are more in the middle so it is a big harder to see in chop and dock and that until you get use to that.
