My 18 year old son put gas in my 2007 gtx, and within 15 minutes he swamped it, and then could not get it restarted. Discovered gas cap was not on. Called service department and they said to wait 1 day, siphon out gas, add new fuel with Heet or some other kind of water dissolver. How do you get a flexiblel tube all the way down to the gas? Does this sound like the right advice? I was hoping to get this fixed before my husband found out!

May not answer your question, but is helpful info.

1.) Gas is lighter than water. It will float on top.

2.) Siphoning out of a jet ski can be easy, or hard. Depends on design.

3.) The only way to get all the water out, is with HEET, or some other substance that forces the water to mix with the gas, and run on through. Don't do this if you have alot of water in there. Drain the tank first, then use it.

If it were mine, I'd definitely drain the tank. Either siphon it, or remove the seat, and hatch covers, any thing to get access to the tank, and possibly remove the filler hose from the top of the tank, if it is hard to get the siphon hose down there.

Then, I'd drain the water trap. It is somewhere between the reserve, off, on valve, that allows you to turn the gas off, and the engine.

If I were husband, I'd PREFER knowing what is going on. 'Cause some of us males are just second nature to fixing stuff like this.

Best regards,

N

Can you get to the fuel tank pump and filler neck from the front storage compartment? Give that a whirl.

I'm not exactly sure how easy it is to get to the fuel senders on the newer Seadoos....but if you remove that, you could also put the siphon tube there.

Here is the easiest way to siphon out the fuel. With the seadoo on the trailer, tip it up on end. Insert rigid hose in the gas filler, the water will collect in the lowest end of the tank which is near the filler cap. The water will be on the bottom of the tank. The rigid hose will not bend and go straight to the bottom. Siphon it out and get all that you can. Do it in a well ventilated area, and use a gas siphon bulb like you have on an outboard engine gas tank. Let the gas settle in a gas can for a couple hours and pour off the good gas and dispose of the water in the bottom appropriately. Use the old gas in the lawn mower.

go down to your nearest shucks, or auto zone and pick up a hand pump $10. when you pump it will start the siphon for you. i do this to my wakeboard boat every year for winterizing.

Gas cap off, need help siphoning

Thanks for all of your replies. Finally was able to get to the gas with a siphon tube purchased at the Seadoo Dealership. It had a weight on the end. Fresh gas and a bottle of HEET did get the GTX started. Still running a little rough, but should straighten out.
