Fuel To The Carbs!

My "97" GTS has one carb. The 96 GTI has two carbs. Finally got to it, took it apart, cleaned the filter, overall the carb seemed in pretty good condition (no rust or too much white powder) I used some carb cleaner to give it a good cleaning, put it back together and it still runs the same..

When I primer the carb, I see a nice shot of fuel enter the carb and it starts just beautiful......... But when that shot of fuel wears off, the engine boggs and it seems like the carb is lacking fuel. I think the carb needs adjusting, does anyone know how the best way to give the carb more fuel so it doesn't choke out?

I ended up removing both carbs and they are on my work bench. One of the GTI carb filters was black and full of oil and grime. I need these carbs to work like factory and I don't know if re-building is best or just getting all new?

All new!

All new carbs will run you about $400 bucks a carb. The adjustment on the low speed screw is 1 and a 1/4 turn. You can open a little more if needed. Are you sure the problem is fuel related?.......and if this is the dual mikuni carb, are they syncronized?

BTW Bryan, I'm getting a bit confused. In one post, you said your GTS was a 97 and the GTI a 96, now vice versa. The reason I'm trying to figure this out is in one direction, they both have the same engine, the 717cc which means they both have the same set up in the carbs......the other direction, the GTS has the 587cc and the GTI, the 717. O.K............I just realized it really didn't matter. You got one set up with the single carb, the 587 and the other with the 717. That's how I'll remember them. By carbs..........remember, those carbs may look alike, but they are different. Dont' interchange them.

You should be able to take the carbs apart and clean or rebuild them a lot cheaper than replacing them with new. I recommend that you use a manual of some sort because it will give you adjustments and ways to remove all the parts and re-assemble them. Just in case you forgot how something goes back together a manual will be real handy. If you don't have any manual resource the seadoo forum has a manual library that is available to use a premium member. Click on the link: http://www.seadooforum.com/manuals.php
This will have all the details to being a Premium member. In the library are all the manuals directly from seadoo. You can download any or all the manuals and read it on line or download as a pdf file and print off your own copy to use for your own personal and privet use. If you have any other questions about your carbs feel free to visit and ask away. The members here are very friendly and eager to help.

Well.... The GTS the best I know is a 97 because I saw a add for a 97 GTS and it was purple like mine and I couldn't find that same look except for that one. (I just bought and am waiting for the pink in the mail so I can't reference it yet) It has one carb. I thought it was a 717 engine? I took it out in the ocean last week and it was pretty fast for a big ski so I thought it was a 717 (720)
The 96 GTI has the duel carbs and for sure it's a 717. I bought some good carb cleaner and am now cleaning them for today. I will try tomorrow to re-assemble them back on the skis. I have cleaned off a lot of grime, etc. I just hope I can get them back together right and the oil adjustment right.

Yeah, you are really helping me a lot. I would never have done this on my own, so thanks so much. I am trying to learn how to get them running good.
It's not easy, but I will give it a good try! Thanks a lot.
