Fuel line question

Hey all!

I'm fairly new to the 2 stroke world and so far it's been both wonderful and stressful.

I had noticed my ski still had the grey lines so I have gone ahead and replaced everything with black. I didn't rebuild the carbs as they were done this June before I bought the ski (have receipts).

The problem I am having is I disconnected the fuel lines from the baffle (i think it's called that) that sits on top of the fuel tank with the 4 lines hooked up to it. I can see one is labelled RET. Which line should be hooked to the RET nipple. Is it the line that runs to the fram g3 filter right before the carb? I have two off and I can't remember which one goes on RET.

I can't get it to start now either. Just huge backfires and it won't turn over. Hoping that this has something to do with it. I see a few threads on the subject for sure, but couldn't figure out where the line went based on what I read, the manual, or the pics people had posted.

Baffle "RET". Return line connects to the Y on the PTO Carb.

I believe this is where the g3 is, but want to confirm. From there I think I need to prime it by removing a plug and cranking it a few times, then reinstall plug and fire it up...getting closer!

I am a complete newb to these boats. So wpnt be of much help. But If it was me. I would assume RET stands for return as in the return line back to the tank. So IF that assumption is correct. You could probably try to figure out which line is going to and coming from and narrow it down like that. Just my uneducated guess. Thought I'd throw that out there while your waiting for a more experienced answer. Unlike real life these days basic mechanics can usually be sorted out through some common sense ideology. At least until it gets super technical and advanced.

What motor please.,,if it is 951, the return line comes at the front of the carb from a plastic "tee",,,if not a 951,,,the return line is the rear of the carbs,,,there should not be a "fram" filter inline,,,you need to unstall the original fuel/water separator.

Thanks for the reply, I have the 800. The filter Im talking about is in this picture. I have the line connecting to that filter running up to the front of the machine and connected to the nipple labelled RET. Is that correct?

That is an error,,,they have a fuel filter on the return line,,,non functional,,,remove it,,the fuel /water separator is at the front of the ski under the steering.

Yes, it should run to the fuel pickup, and be at back of the pickup,,the vent tube should be opposite to it at the front,,mistakes are often made,,the vent fitting should ld be at the very front,,,it has a linear vertical protrusion on it that you can feel with your fingers,on early models it is not there,,,it also says vent, the letters are hard to see,,,,the importance here is that the baffle pickup tube is 90 degrees to the direction of travel and allows more catching of the fuel upon acceleration..the reserve fitting will be on the port side of the ski, right near the pink wires ,,and the ON.,,on the starboard side,,,
