I had the same problem today of water coming into the engine compartment. This time I Figured out where the water was coming in. It appeared to be coming in through a rubber part right below like 6 inches of copper tubing. I think gear shifter wire?? (that is what a mechanic told me) It is coming in through this black rubber looking connector.
I tried to look it up in the parts section so I could explain it better but could not see it.?

Hope someone understood that. I left it at the mechanic. He said he is 2 weeks behind, but If it is something we can fix I will go and pick it up.

Thanks for your help in advance

upload picture to phobucket then post it here.
A picture is worth a thousand words......

Ocod, thanks for your response. To anyone that can help I would appreciate it. After digging alittle deeper I can give you more acurate information. When I look at the parts section, I see that I am leaking through the "weedless system" on parts number 7,(half ring) 8,(rubber washer) 9 lock cable.

This doesn't seem like a hard thing to fix however I wonder how a person can get down into the engine compartment and losen that?? Also do you have to get under the boat to losen anything???

Is this a common place for water to leak in??

I am sure the dealer with serve me a high bill. Its going to be sitting there for 2 weeks and if we can fix it, we will give it a whirl (with your help of course)

Thanks guys (and gals (-:

Yep its a white theaded cap with hole through it.
I did mine when I got boat.
Be patient when you thread in the new one don't cross threads.
Your probably going to have some threaded piece borken in there. It comes out by prying on the edges. Then wire brush inside and clean it out to get new cap in there straight.

I took a picture of it, but have no clue how to upload the picture. This screw is black

Same thing different color. The cap top is broken and the threaded part is in fitting.

Get underneath remove allen head hold weedless grate. The unscrew eyelet fitting from cable with vice grips. Pull through hull.
Then work on getting old part part.
That easy
Check to see if half rings are there. Its more expensive than the cap :svengo:

open photobucket account.

Hey ocod, looks like I'm having the same problem with my Challenger. Some genius tried to fix it with silicone. I blasted that crap away with a power washer and behold: HORRIBLE CAVITATION!! lol It just sucks air through that hole when I try to accelerate. The reason I found it was my compartment filled up with water to the point where it submerged that leak, and the cavitation went away. I was so glad to finally find the reason why it was bs'ing me :) I'll be fixing it here shortly.
