this morning while trying to flush the engine with fresh water, i mistakenly attached the water hose to the wrong engine and started the other one. I let this go on for about 20 -30 seconds before i realized my mistake. Can anyone tell me what damage i might have done. I started both engines after that, and they started up fine, but from the back of the boat saw some brown water flow out for a few seconds.

Thanks

Eek.. That muddy brown water sounds just as if the engine gets flooded while out on the water..
What's done is done, but what I've done is have you taken the spark plugs out and cranked in 5 second intervals to blow out any crappy water? Then fog the cylinders a little, then try firing it?

And when you said wrong engine at first, it caught me off guard til I noticed you had a boat..
Also, your manual has a section on troubleshooting/water flooded engines..

If the engine runs, you are good to go. The only thing I would suggest is to hit the ramp and let it run up to temp. This will get rid of any residual water.

:agree: If it started right back up............your lucky. Even if you did get water in there it would not have been much. Fog the snot out of it until you can get it to the ramp. Its a crappy time of year for that but at least you know the ramp wont be busy.

Thanks all, i removed the plugs and cranked the engine a few times. Then started the engine up again. Cannot take it to the ramp this week, but will start it for a few seconds everyday. Hopefully that will remove the remaining water.

If water didn't come out of the cylinders whle cranking with the spark plugs removed then it wasn't hyfrolocked from water backing up into the exhaust. If the engine started then the cylinders weren't hydrolocked and you got the stick save, bud!
