a couple months ago i bought a 1995 sea doo HX. it took my a while to get comfortable and brave on it. now i can powerboard/sideboard with no problem and can do simple tail stands, and submarines. luckily i have not tipped the ski completly over (handle bars under water, bottom of ski above water) if i would happen to have such an unfortunate encounter which way should i tip it back over to its correct position, the sticker on the back of the ski doesnt give it a direction it just shows to rotate the ski 90 degrees counterclockwise before starting, and to my believe if i was to do that when it was completely tipped over water would get in the engine ( i have heard to always rotate the ski to keep the exhaust pipe under the ski to prevent water getting in the engine) so which way after a complete tip over CLOCKWISE or COUNTERCLOCKWISE???

thanks any help appreciated

on my 97 gts i have to rotate clockwise so that the exhaust pipe goes under the water. if i were to rotate it counterclockwise the carb would sit under water and act like a big scoop.

I might me wrong but...

I'm new to all of this so correct me if I'm wrong but since water is easily capable of entering in through the exhaust, if you roll it so that the exhaust manifold goes over the top instead of under the engine, water will flow in through the manifold and into the cylinder/block/engine. Hope I'm right and this helps. I just bought a '95 HX. If any info on HX's post on my thread too http://seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=8589 Thanks, Courtney

Rotate the boat clockwise if it is capsized. You tilt it counterclocking on its side to attempt to get any water trapped in the engine to flow into the topmost curve of the exhaust pipe. Then when the boat goes upright again from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock, the water drains DOWN the rest of the exhaust.

thanks, but...

i understand why you're supposed to rotate it 90 degrees counter clockwise, but why didn't sea doo put a sticker on the back to show clockwise rotation to correct the watercraft after tip over

I just went out and looked at my '95 HX and it has one. Its counter-clockwise. I think I got the pic attached.

I think it is funny that the HX doesn't have a sticker at the end of the hull that says what to do when it is upside down. The GTX and most of the other hulls have a sticker that is right-side-up when the hull is upside down and provides instructions for the correct way to upright it.

Since I reboard from the left side after a wipeout, I usually end up tipping the boat counterclockwise anyway.

But, an upside-down HX should FIRST be flipped over in a clockwise direction. THEN tipped over counterclockwise 90 degrees (per the sticker) to clear out the exhaust.

And for good measure, always take a spark plug wrench in the fire extinguisher box. Even this weekend I ran across a hydrolocked engine that needed to pump with the plugs out. Life went on - but it happens once in a while:ack:.
