Today I read a trend about a mysterious oil leak. In the trend it said to not tighten your oil cap All the way so it would relieve the pressure that was pushing oil out the relief valve. I have had my port side engine smoking blue for a year plus. It wasn't awful but very noticeable.
***Today after loosening the oil cap Just a little, the oil leak stopped "dripping oil from valve above starboard side engine" and unexpectedly...the blue smoke from the Portside engine exhaust stopped!!!
Has anyone else experienced this "miracle"?
Bigger question...WHY did this happen?

Curious but I wonder if you were now getting this exhaust gas in the engine compartment and both engines were sucking the smoke down their carbs like an EGR system?

No, I meant after you loosened the cap. It was just a guess. Maybe loosening the cap relieves internal engine case pressure and is pushing less oil/fuel mix past the rings. This logic is prob more applicable to a 4 stroke engine but thought the theories would invite more discussion.
