I got the repair estimate on my 94 Speedster.... $1500-2000!!

(boat would'nt start because of a little 5 amp fuse that kept blowing when connecting the batteries.... dealer says it needs a new MPEM and rectifiyer, blah , blah blah)

This boat physically is in great condition, most people think it's somewhat new, however, no gauges work except for the tachs.

The boat (if working) would be only worth about $2k.

So, do I spend the money to fix it and keep it?... or fix it and sell it? or sell it "as is" to someone who has repair skills for about $500....or

... donate it to charity!

p.s. it's got 30 gal of gas from winterization too!

Either way.... I lose big time! anybody want it?

hey...I'd fix it, but do test first see if MPEM/ECI is bad....unplug the yellow wires at rectifier, then insert fuse, see if pops, then unplug red wire, see if pops, if so, then contact ...ALLTHINGSCUSTOM...on this site. He can repair MPEM boards to perfect condition for 1/5 the price of new one. Or can surf ebay, sell these parts all day...

Ok... I'm gonna try myself... however, I will also put it on Craigslist to see if anybody in the area wants to take on this boat.. for cheap. The Doo dealer offered me $500 just for the engines/pumps. add on a full tank of gas, a spotless exterior, perfect trailer and I would say $900 would get me to sell it!

Does that sound about right?

That doesn't sound to bad...I'll take it if you deliver it for free to me here in sunny Florida...:ack:

Hold On !!

First of all, a working 94 Speedster in good shape is worth $ 3500 or more. Just look on ebay. Some go as high a $ 5000 especially in summer.

You have TWO MPEMs. So they both may need replacing.. or neither. The dealer may be ripping you off.

Also check www.seadoosource.com for replacement MPEMs
