So I drove my 2000 Yamaha GP1200R with my gf and it felt stable and comfortable, I recently bought a 99 XP and it literally cant even come close, is this XP a 2 person SKI? My gf and I are skinny people as well or is it not really a 2 person ski? I want the XP because of the performance and I dont really like Yamaha but what would be more of my style then given performance and a little bigger, I guess what does SEADOO have around the 2000 models that compare to the Yamaha GP1200R,

The xp is a 2 seater but u have to get the hang of it lol..it is going to be tipsy w 2 ppl on it but after a while you should get hang of it. Most ppl just ride one person on the xps. If you want something fast and more stable a 2000 model would b like a seadoo rx or the gtx but gtx is a big 3 seater. Then there is the not so fast cruising models like gti. Also look into a 99gsx ltd. They look really cool and are fast and a bit more stable w 2

Yea, the RX kind of looks like the YAMAHA I have. so out of the RX, GTX, GSX, GTI, the RX would be the fastest out of them all and more stable then the XP? Another words, is the RX like a bigger version of the XP? would it be the next closest thing to the XP

Yes the rx is nice and big and can prob still get to 60mph. It will also have trim unit like the xp. The only thing is recomend is get like a 2000 model or 01 just make sure its not the rxdi the Di motors can be very hard to diagnose and usually come w a lot of problems,

found out the same thing with our GSX our first time out when we got it. by myself I can sit on it while idling and turn the steering 90 degrees and sit there and go in circles. turn the steering any where near that far at idle with 2 people on the ski and you are instantly in the water.

I've got a 96XP, I guess it's called a 2 person ski because the seat is long enough for two. It's a one person ski.

Also got a 96GTI, very stable, hell I've never even turned it over, don't think you could if you tried. Can ride 2 or 3 with no probs.

That's why I've got 2 ski's.

Took my 98 GSX Limited 2 seater out this weekend and rode with my wife on it for the first time and almost flipped it. We also use a 97 GTI and no matter what I do on that 3 seater I dont worry about tipping it.

same as above - have 2 '96 GSX's - very unstable w/2 ppl at low speed, no problems while on plane. Kids pair up on them all the time and never have a prblm, but put new 'noobs' on one and they're usually in the water before they leave the dock ;-) I think that 1200 & the XP make about the same hp, but the xp is about 100 lbs lighter - hence it's more about performance than cruising with these hulls IMO - they call them 2 seaters but the most fun is always had with 1-up.

I must be a little above a newb since I managed to recover and not go in the drink!! :) Although I still think I am on a learning curve with the two seater since its my first season with one.

IMO The trick to resolving any tippy situation is throttle - grab some and the boat will straighten right up - you may make a 360 first depending on how far off axis your tip got, but just the throttle on and you'll recover.
