Not sure if it was mentioned yet in replies, this sounds like the same issue I am / was having - recommendation was to replace the rectifier. One way to test is to disconnect the red wire from the rectifier, if it solves your problem it could be a bad rectifier.
That said, I have replaced my rectifier and still have the issue, I may have bought a bad one or there may be another issue, waiting on feedback on another thread.
