I recently bought a 2003 GTX 155 as a second machine for my wife ,the seller ( husband of one of my clients) claimed it had been winterized and oil changed but it had sat indoors for a few years , oil looked fresh so I drained fuel and lines , filled and soaked the fuel lines with seafoam overnite , changed plugs, new battery, filled with premium 91 and started on the trailer ran it 20 seconds took it to the lake ran a little rough at first got up on plane , lots of cavitation ,rpm was good top speed 30 mph. Thanks to this forum it was easy you see wearring was pouched, ended up having wearing replaced by local dealer . Took it out 5-6 more times 45-60 minute runs , amazing the torque difference and each time it ran more smooth than the last outing . This weekend we extended the run as my wife's confidence increased we ran for 1 1/2 hrs on some rougher water it ran great .Upon return to the ramp it started to beep 4 beeps continual , shut it down and reinstalled DEES and beeps came back, dash said to check engine and sensor,,,,, checked oil which was fine , no water leaking anywhere. I asked my wife if she had felt anything different , slipping , cavitation ? 15 minutes later I Decided to try it for myself, plugged in the DEES and beeping had stopped so I played with the throttle,RPM's were fine but minimal torque and no go , ramp was busy so we loaded and took the 4 minute drive home where I inspected the impeller front and back looking for weeds and it was clear so I took it back to the lake by myself , dusk was approaching and beach was empty so I stayed in the channel and near the ramp . It ran great smooth as silk good torque , opened it up all the way for the first time since getting it ,speedo got to 54 mph ( had a little wind at my back) played for an hour and couldn't recreate the problem.
It is a weedy lake ,we had run in a charted channel but is it possible weeds had gradually plugged on a long steady 30 mph run and plugged water intake for an overheat problem ? I see some on here spoke of oil pressure issues ? We were planning a tour next weekend with a group up in northern Ontario and now I am nervous as previous boating history (breakdowns)with my wife takes the fun out of it. Any ideas or comments appreciated .

Sorry , I am a newbie , thought I needed a special programe or such to access codes. The only code that came up was P 1509 Lake temp circuit out of range

Can't figure out what the "circuit out of range" means

Generically, it means that the data that the MPEM is getting is outside the range that it has been programmed to receive. This happens when sensors short or the wires get shorted or become open.

It means the computer is looking for a signal from the temp sensor, and the signal should have a certain value, a range. This type of error code could be caused by a faulty sensor, bad connection, excessive resistance in the circuit, or a fault in the computer.

From what I've read on my ski, that sensor is only used by the information center. I'll have to read up on your ski.

To expand on that a bit. Many sensors have a range they operate in and adjust the info sent based on temperature and what not. So if a temp sensor sends info that relates to being 40 degrees or 190 degrees it is IN RANGE. If it says 220 for example, but the MPEM can't relate to that number, it is now out of range and the MPEM will go to a preset default so that it can try to protect the engine.

I just pulled and checked all of the fuses and connectors ,Because the machine sat idle , in a building , thought that corrosion may be an issue but code still comes up . I don't know if this "sensor " came up on the dash before the 4 beep warning but I think it did and I was ignorant to what it meant. I don't have any manuals for this machine ,Can I clear the code or does it need to go to the dealer to have that done , what is my next move ,please.

If you were to become a "Premium Member", you would have access to all the manuals for you year of ski.

Go to sea doo manuals . net; you can download the '03 manual for free. I'm looking at it now.

OBTW, the ECU controls all engine management functions.

Things have changed so much since the 70's jet boat racing and 260 mercy cruiser days , I think I will look into both options I am enjoying both machines just need to figure out keeping them top notch . Will look up "premium member and the candor scanner and my wife will operate the laptop (or lol supervise me using it)

This may be handy.

B.U.D.S is the dealers software isn't it ? Sorry for the newbie question . How would I access the information center

If you are using a computer there is normally a link floating around the top. I'm on my phone, I'll see if I can find you a link.
