I have a 1998 Seadoo Sportster 1800 - trying to get it water ready!

Noticed with the shift lever in neutral (boat off, not running) that the left side throttle lever - more so than the right side, doesn't seem to have a lot of friction to keep the lever in position, in otherwords, if at 1/4 throttle the lever almost falls back to idle - it doesn't stay in position. Is this because its not running? If not, what is the fix?

Also, for the air filter/flame arrestor I'm assuming I just peel off the rubber gasket and that filter will come out so I can clean it? What is the best way to clean it?

Also, I noticed my left side choke cable is broke where it mounts to the bracket right down by the engine, it still functions for now as the cable isn't broke - but the threaded rod is broke so there is not any threads left for a nut to grab onto. Is there a way to rig it up to not rattle around? If not, where is the best place to find a replacement? (saw nothing on e-bay).

Lastly, in the attached photo I took a picture of where I routed the speedometer cable from the left side - is that how they did it from the factory - the wire will flop around a bit as there is nothing to zip tie it to or otherwise from what I could tell. Just don't want any issues with how its routed....

Still would love to hear if the way the speedometer cable is routed is the right/best way!

I think I figured out the shift lever, I pulled the entire assembly up, and there was a bolt for the center throttle that I was able to tighten about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn - surprisingly that seems to have helped. The throttle lever now has more resistance/friction so it should hopefully stay in the proper position when running.

I also was able to pull the filters out and clean them both.

I was also able to jerry-rig the broken choke cable so I think that should hold up well.
