Engine fogging questions

Is it generally a good idea to fog the engine if it will be sitting two weeks?

What is the most acceptable way to fog these engines? On my boat, I just use a spray can of fogging oil and spray it down the carb until the engine stalls. I'd assume these are different. I read something about a teaspoon of 2 cycle oil in each spark plug hole, cover the holes, and crank it over a couple times.

While Im at it (not a fogging question) how long is wide open throttle too long generally?

Theres a little hole in the air box.
Just spray down the hole until it starts smoking.

Its always good to fog engine after every ride.

I fog after every ride. I know it's excessive but I'm of the belief as there is no such thing as fogging too much

I fog every time I pull it out of the water. Even if I am going back the next day. Fog is cheap. Engines are not.

As previously stated, spray into the air-box until it smokes excessively, or dies. The other option is to remove the plugs and spray fogging oil into each cylinder and turn it over. I'm also partial to semi-synthetic oil, the mineral qualities stick to the internals longer. However, you will have more carbon build up on your rave valves.

Sportster and I were discussing it and the easiest way to fog the bottom end is to pull the oil pump lever wide open when at idle until it starts to smoke. THen pull the plugs and give a shot of fogging oil down the plug holes then bump it over a time or two to lube the top end.
This will save you the huge mess of fogging oil into the air cleaner.

As far as wide open on a bone stock ski in perfect mechanical condition in theory you should be able to hold it WFO for a long time. I personally would only do it for a few minutes at a time. Figure endurance skis can run WFO for an hour or more.

Have any of you considered adding a remote fogging tube? I'm thinking of screwing a small fitting into the hole in the air box to connect a small (like oil injector line) size tube up a little higher in the ski. Then you can just connect the hose to the spray can and fog away without having to work your way around the motor and hull. I tried using a small hose on the can and just poke it into the hole. This helps a lot as well.
