FULL-THROTTLE
New Member
Bummer,
I crapped an engine today, 98 challenger w/twin 787's R/side locked up, it is odd I was towing a tube and throttled back to idle then shut down both engines, r/side wouldn't start, limped home, Aft plug gap was completely closed and apparently hit by the piston, eng will rotate 3/4 the way around left and right but not all the way around you can hear a significant clunk when it comes to a stop, I put a screwdriver on the top of each piston and they both move freely??????? I assume the rod bearing let go.
Luckily it is a 1 year old SBT rebuild put in at a local shop so it is warrantied, the shop takes forever to do this kind of work, I am probably going to do the change over myself if SBT will honor the warranty if I do the work, I am a licensed aircraft mechanic and feel completely comfortable doing it.
Bummer, the weather is great and 4th of July is next weekend.
SBT don't fail me now
