I have a 1998 gts. The starting of the sea Doo was random. I had once jumped the sea Doo so thought I might have fried the MPEC. I have replaced the MPEC and the solenoid. I pulled the 5 amp fuse and when I plugged back in I hear a clicking noise. It will beep as normal but when trying to start the motor sounds like it skipping. After trying to start a few times the whole thing is dead, NO power. I pull the fuse and plug back in again and will do same thing over again.

What is going on? Any help would be appreciated

Could be weak battery or selenoid,,,Is the battery at 12.5v?,,,if yes proceed,,if not,,,charge it,,,,then load test the battery,,,if it passes,,proceed,,if not replace the battery with biggest, best, maintenance one you can fit in the battery tray,,,check for battery voltage at the right (battery) selenoid terminal,,,if yes proceed,,,then press the start button and see if you battery voltage on the starter side terminal,,the left one,,.if no...its the selenoid,(having ruled out battery issues),,if yes,,,you have starter issues.

After working on today when jumping the solonoid the motor turns over strong. I am thinking it's not getting enough power to the starter, maybe a ground issue.

If it turns over when jumping the solenoid it isn't the battery, main battery cables, starter or main ground.
If you bought an aftermarket MPEM I would suspect that first as they aren't known to work.

Also it's doing same thing with original MPEM and the aftermarket MPEM. Could it be the DESS post or key?

I have looked and where the ground wire is connected to or near the starter looks corroded. I will take off and clean.

The air box is the large black plastic cover over the carbs,,,there is a clip just underneath the xhaust manifold,,you remove it,, and you pull back the clip,,,sometimes the circlip is missing,,,the air box sits in a slot at the bottom from a bracket that holds the starter in place,,,you need to slide the box to the left to get it out of the holding pin,,,
That bolt is in a tuff spot,,,but accessible,,,often it will be covered in gray silicone from the factory,,,it goes to the battery,,so remove it from the negative post,,,
I once had the same symptom,,,skipping/cycling,,,someone attached that ground to the starter bracket.
Yes it looks like hard to get to. Can I just simply run another ground and attach near top of motor?

I take it back, no,,,you would have to remove a major force bolt,,the ground cable is usually short as possible,,,that bolt will have factory yellow loktite on it,,,and be a batch to get out,,,
Looks like you have to get a flat head screwdriver and wrench to remove. It's way down there. Hope you can see the corroded connection.
