I found a great article talking about the 787 and how the rectifier can cause all kinds of problems like backfiring. So, for now, the culprit seems to be the rectifier. Hoping my local Seadoo dealer will have one.

You can unplug the red wire from the rectifier and test it that way. Have you measured the output voltage from that rectifier, or does it feed into a common battery?

I have not swapped rectifiers, the issue seems to be intermittent and has never shown up on the garden hose. It shows up when the boat is warmed up, about ten minutes.

Two rectifiers going to a common battery. I did a voltage test, and each engine by itself raised the voltage to 13.5 at about 5000 rpm. So I think the rectifier is on its way out but not gone completely bad yet.

I did order one rectifier online, and I am hoping to find another one at the local Seadoo dealer.

These rectifiers have a plug, a 4 pin plug. It's not like a ski where you just disconnect the red wire. So, if you want a hack free install you'll need to order the correct weather pack pins. You can just unplug the rectifier and test it now. They're mounted on the right side of the mag housing as viewing the engines from the back.

I should invest more on electrical diagnostic tools. I have a quality multimeter with assorted probes, but that is about it when it comes to electrical. I am more of a let's start with the cheapest part first and keep replacing until the problem is solved. Yes, that is why I hate workling on electrical issues.

I love Amazon, but they are killing the brick and mortar businesses. I have three large Seadoo dealers within an hour of me and none of them stock parts for older Seadoo boats. When I need a part, I end up waiting up to a week for parts to be delivered

Latest Update: I now have 5.6 hours on my new engine. It is running better every time I take it out.

Here is my daughter flying our grandstand at 40 mph 6000 RPM.

My miss turned out to be the rectifiers.

Here is where I mounted my pissers. (Same location as snikwad003)

Now about the EGT Guage. I bought EGT sensors from China for $8.00 each shipped. Well, you get what you pay for; within the first hour two of the sensors burned out. Yesterday another sensor burned out so now I can only monitor one cylinder. Now I'm going to buy the $50.00 each quality units.

Gorgeous pictures.

The larger pump of the challenger surely makes a difference, my Sportster 1800 does 34ish on GPS at 6000 RPM.

^Its the 50 extra hp:cheers: same pumps. Looks good Bo, you measured compression after some ring seat time?

The best investment I made was letting Dave at Impros repitch my Concord impellers. He also repitched the right and left impellers at different pitches to compensate for pump rotation. Dave is the impeller Guru!

Engines are running great, and the EGT gauges are working. It is so cool that I can see how the adjustments are affecting the temperatures in the cylinders.

I need an easy way to adjust the hi and low mixture screws. I can get to every screw except the hi-speed screw on the mag carburetor.
I was thinking about gluing a 4-inch long 1/8 rubber hose to the top of the mixture screw and attaching a knob to the top. Has anyone tried this or can anyone suggest another way to easily adjust the high-speed screw on the mag carburetor?

Alot of the 4 stroke(gross) dirt bikes have the adjuster on a hose with a knob you could probably find easy

I have been looking at those that is how I got the idea; most already have the screw attached, and I doubt it will fit the Mikuni 40.

How's your boat running?

Better than this rental!

The Kraken is doing pretty good, I might have to buy new carbs to get it perfect  I will switch to external fuel pumps like yours has before I do that. Im actually out on your side of the states at lake havasu on my honeymoon with that purdy lady in the foto. We named the rental lyle larson and he has lived a rough 2 years (2014 and it is hammered), it needs a rent life sticker on it!

Most peole go to a beach for their honeymoon, if im not launching a jetski as high in the air as I can get it the entire time, the beach can go hang out with the yamaha rental skis

Congratulations I hope you guys have a wonderful honeymoon. I am in Havasu a couple of times a year, but my favorite place is Lake Powel it has some amazing places.

I have a lot to update once I get some free time. It turned out my main problem was my accelerator pump was allowing air to travel back through the supply line and lean out my fuel mixture. I added a couple 1/8" one-way check valves, and it runs perfectly. I went through hell to figure that one out!

Since I live on the east side, this is nuts. 110f and dry with 72ish watter is a great combo. Back home its 100f with 97% humidity and a power plant heated lake at 90f This trip is awsome we have had the boat since monday and take it back tomoro afternoon then head to vegas for a day the next morning. I am having jetdrive withdrawals with this chevy powered i/o. The shifter is busted and if i was the average renter I have drove it onto the dock by now since it revvs up before the trans gets done grinding into gear, I love direct drive. This larson also wanders worse than my boat in the massive no wake zone this place has, were at london bridge resort. Friggin massive no wake zone :cuss: Powell looks amazing!

I get to the mag pto high speed adjustment with a small pair of needle nose pliers. I have a lot of probes but I guess you already have the good ones now.
