I rode my 01 rx in salt water for the first time. I started smelling pump oil so I quit running it, when I got home I flushed it out properly and even ran a little water inside the hull to rinse what salt water got inside out. It sat in the back yard for 3 weeks. I went out to crank it and it wouldn't turn over. It acts as if the engine is locked up. I pulled the plugs and it still won't turn over. I even bypassed the silinoid straight to the starter. would the pump being locked up stop the motor, and how can I disconect the drive shaft so that I can make sure it's not the motor? Thank's for reading I appreciate the help.

You have to remove the pump and you can tell with the drive shaft still installed if it is the pump or the engine. I'm doing this from memory so I might not have every step. Remove the steering and reverse cable. Remove the bolts that hold the nozzle on and the remove the nuts that hold the pump to the ski. You may have to rock it back and forth but it should come off. Try to hit the start button then. Good Luck

go inside your hull remove the plastic cover from the pto/engine, then right in front of your carbon ring you will see a silver collar, push/pull it towards the rear of the ski which will expose the lock ring, remove the lock ring and do not lose it, then go to the back of your ski and remove the steering, shift, and or trim cables from the nossel, then remove the four bolts holding on the nossel, then remove the four bolts holding on the pump and remove the pump and driveshaft as one unit, make sure the engine side of the driveshaft has the rubber stopper on the end of it and do not lose it, then with the pump and shaft removed you can see if the engine is free spinning or if it is the pump......I bet on the pump with what you stated.......
