Do newer skis have a bilge pump of bailer system?

I just picked up a GTX Limited iS 260, and have been doing a lot of reading. I see Seadoo sells a bilge kit and a lot of people install them or some sort of their own kit. So I have to ask, is there some sort of water evacuation system from the factory? Or is there really nothing there to remove water? I know our 96 XP had some sort of system that removed water when the engine was running.

Honestly I'll be kind of annoyed if I bought a 17K MSRP jet ski (I didn't pay anywhere near that though) that included all kinds of stuff from covers and water tight cases and depth finders but no means of clearing the hull of water during riding.

All have bailers, some have bilge pump. Bilge pumps are almost always a dealer add on.

Oh...okay. So the bilge pump is just backup. Either way, I'll probably pick one up pretty soon. Always good to have a back up...

Yep. Many places sell "through-hull" fittings. Easy to install them.

Very much so. It is easy. The fitting is two-piece and threads together sandwiching the hull. Work great.

rilling through the transom. The pump is actually on the port side of the ski. It sits around the 6th rib (going from memory here). The discharge points toward the stern. The discharge tubing is routed up and over the engine and expelled on the starboard side of the pump. You need to put a pinhole in the tubing (between the two pices of black tape) to break the siphon that can be created since the bilge pump is below the water line and at times, the discharge nozzle can be under water too..

Two types of electric Bilge pumps. Common Seadoo is computer controlled. When ignition energizes it cycles every 30 seconds. Only continues running if it senses a "load" ie pumping water and stays running. Second system which I prefer is using pump with seperate float switch. This insures SD left unattended floating in water will auto bilge. All water craft come stock with auto siphon system. They work really slow.
