Hi, new to the forum and I have a q.

I bought shop manual, and a new fuel filter, and just read the manual on the replacement.

My q is, do I REALLY need to buy the vehicle communication kit and use the buds software to release the fuel line pressure to replace a fuel filter??

This seems pretty extreme to me.

The dealer says it will be a 7-8 hour bill to do this, and I know I can do this myself, unless i have to spend 250 on tools to replace a 20 dollar part ;-)

Thanks Guys

ps, reason for the fuel filter change is : it has started losing power while i am at speed. never more than 3-4 seconds and it is intermittent. feels like it bogs down for a few seconds, then picks back up. then it might do it again a few minutes late.

and this is really a great forum

tell me about it

Wish I could, but we only have one.

It only took me 30 min to get completely prepped.

I think I am just going to cut a few corners. since the filter is on the bottom of the assembly, i'm not going to disconnect the fuel lines at all. instead i will cut the tie wraps to give the fuel lines lots of room while i pull the pump. shouldn't need to worry about the pressure then.

here's hoping

all done

filter replaced, and everything put back together and tools away. couple hours tops including cleanup.

too bad the battery is dead. lol
charging again now. will start it up tomorrow:)
