Do I need to replace my impeller?

My apologies for flooding the forum with newbie questions. Only been a seadoo owner for a month or so, but I've learned so much here! Mechanically, these aren't too bad to work on! So thank!

That said, I'm in the process of doing an engine alignment, and I was checking out my wear ring and that definitely needs to be replaced, however the impeller blades themselves are fairly nicked up.
Just wondering if I should have it done at the same time as a new wear ring. I know they aren't cheap to replace, and I found a shop locally that repairs them for about $50 or so.

Is my impeller bad enough or would you guys just put it back in with a new wear ring and be done with it?

See attached photo.

Additionally, the little metal collar that goes up against my carbon seal has 2 little slits in it...I don't think it causes any issues but, do any of you guys have the same cuts in yours? I'll attach that photo too :)

This seadoo isn't in as good shape as I originally though when I got it, and I'm pretty sure the previous owner was withholding information. Arghh... but I'm determined to get it back on the water!
Thanks!

I can't answer your carbon seal question although it looks normal enough to me I don't have a carbon seal on mine and have never played with one.

However that impeller is pretty beat up I would have it repaired.

The slits are normal and if you are going to take it apart you might as well get the impeller cleaned up. The trailing edges are important too.

Thanks for this. I'll get on that while I'm waiting for some parts to be delivered.

Do I just file down the edges? Is there any tips or tricks that will make it more effective?

Local shop wants $50 to repair impellers. I don't mind taking it there, but if its something straight forward I don't mind doing it myself.

I'm new so take it easy on me :)

For $50, with the piece of mind to let them do it. They will do a much better job than you are able to do.

Over-all the impeller looks good except the edges, but still worth letting them do it as you have it out.. Might as well start out fresh and new..

As noted, CS is good to go. If it is the O-Ring style retainer, replace it with the the C-lip style..

Good advice, thank you!
Although I do have a Dremel sitting here I could probably clean it up not bad. But maybe I'll take it in just so I know what to expect next time if I need to do it myself.

Yes, it's a oring style. Is there a specific part number for the c clip? I don't see it in my service manual for my specific model...

If the blades are not bent at all, clean the edges with the Dremmel.

I'm flying right now, can't look up parts. But,, the C-Clip is the updated part, so anyone will have it. The advantage to the C-clip is two fold. Can put it on and take it off without removing the drive shaft, and, it will not break. The o-ring style can break and allow the collar to bak off and the ski can sink.

I'd just hand file that impeller and slap a new wear ring in and rebuild the pump bearings and call it a day.

Already on the pump rebuild. When I get bored I start replacing stuff lol.

PS- Found the clip part number 272000135 :) Ironically the c clip cost less than the original o-ring. O-rings are so overpriced!

If you plan on using your boat as a rock crusher, use the Dremel. You you plan to avoid ingesting gravel into your drive system, then get the impeller machined professionally ONCE and never have to do it again.
